We believe that mentoring is
one of the most important ways
in which we can provide detailed
and focused support for
school leaders and governors
with the challenges presented by
key aspects of their roles for
which specific training is not available.
Mentoring provides a 'safe space',
a private, professional environment
underpinned by trust in which the
freedom to share experiences and
discuss options is enabled.
As we go through life, in both personal
and professional circumstances, we
choose our own mentors (usually
unofficially) for the qualities that we
respect about them and the insights
they can provide on a given matter.
The 'allocation' of an 'official' mentor
can seem false, imposing, detached, and
an unwelcome intrusion into the process
of finding our own feet within a new role
or negotiating our own path through a
particular situation.
At I G N I T I O, we do not presume to
tell professional colleagues how
to do their jobs, but bring
a resourced, listening approach
to sharing the benefit of our experience
and applying that to specific situations
identified by our clients.
